NetZero Voice - call anyone on their network for free
Starting as low as $3.95 per month NetZero Voice has many key features expected from a VoIP carrier. Unlimited incoming calls and your own personal phone number start off their feature pack. If you are going to be away from your computer, NetZero Voice will forward calls to your personal phone number to up to 3 different telephone numbers - so you can always be reached. This service is sometimes called 'call hunting'.
NetZero plans are 'computer to phone' and 'computer to computer' voice plans. The first month is free and their service works over dial-up and broadband. They currently offer a free headset. Get your voicemail 3 different ways: via telephone, online, and through email. You can even have SMS alerts sent to your mobile phone.
Their 100 minute plan 100 minutes each month to place and receive calls from your computer to land lines and cell phones in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Additional minutes to these destinations are 2¢ per minute.
There is no set-up fee to get started and they do offer a 'pay as you go' plan. The 911 service is not available with NetZero Voice. Your computer will have its own telephone number. You can choose any U.S. area code and city for your telephone number - regardless of your location.
Their website is here and this opens in a new window. We do not use their service.
NetZero has been around for years. Before DSL, when dial up Internet was one of the only options, NetZero gave people free Internet access and displayed advertisements as a source of revenue.
